RECYCLING
Over the past 40 years, the company has developed into one of the leading processors of waste polyethylene (PE) products in Central and Southern Europe. We annually produce more than 17,000 tons of high-quality regranulate for further use as raw material in our production process.

Investing in state-of-the-art technology and machinery in all recycling processes allows us to produce raw materials according to customer specifications while maintaining high physical and mechanical quality.

The PE waste film processing technology is designed to convert waste polyethylene materials into granulate, enabling reuse as raw material in polyethylene film production.

Our raw material base relies on waste polyethylene film. We recycle both clean and contaminated waste PE film of various thicknesses and colors. Clean waste PE film often originates from production scrap during the extrusion process. Contaminated waste PE film comes from packaging used for various products, such as household appliances, beverage bottles, and other industrial products. Contaminated film is processed through washing.

All wastewater generated during the washing process is treated using advanced purification systems, meeting the strictest standards and regulations, while prioritizing environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, and reduction of CO₂ footprint.

Regranulate (PIR or PCR) is further processed on extrusion lines into polyethylene film products for construction, municipal waste bags, and packaging for everyday use. Products from our recycling line can be tailored to customer requirements based on different formulations.

Definition of recyclates

PIR (Post-Industrial Recyclate): Material from production scrap not reused in the same process.

PCR (Post-Consumer Recyclate): Material collected from households, industry, or retail after consumption.

Production residues reused in the same process are considered by-products, not waste, and cannot be labeled as recyclate.

Certified recycling process

Plasta d.o.o. holds the RecyClass certification, which ensures traceability, transparency, and credibility in the PE recycling chain. RecyClass (formerly EuCertPlast) is an international certification program for companies recycling or using post-consumer plastic.

The certificate guarantees that recycling companies and product manufacturers operate according to high standards (EN 15343:2007 and ISO 22095:2020). It ensures that recycled plastic is processed according to best practices, environmental compliance, national regulations, and customer requirements.

In 2024, we saved our customers:
0
tons of CO2 (~ 75% reduction in GHG emissions when replacing virgin with mechanically recycled LDPE material)*
0
L of oil (savings of ~ 65 MJ/kg compared to the production of recycled LDPE and virgin granulate)**
0
EUR (lower input cost of raw materials in the production of foils and other finished products)***
