Plasta d.o.o. was established in 1980 as a small workshop in Šentrupert, Slovenia, by Franc Frelih, who took over three employees and two machines from his father, Josip. Initially, the company focused on injection molding and blow molding of plastic containers, but later shifted to the production of blown polyethylene (PE) films and bags and the recycling of waste polyethylene (PE) film.
Throughout its history, Plasta has reinvested profits into continuous modernization of production, becoming one of the leading companies in the region in recycling waste polyethylene packaging and producing blown films and bags from recycled materials.

The Plasta group consists of 13 companies, employing over 1,100 people domestically and internationally. The group operates in two sectors: plastics production and recycling, and the food processing industry.
